The School of Rock is a national leader in music education. In addition to summer camps, the School of Rock offers year round, after school music education. Our curriculum advances through four stages of learning.
- Lessons + is for kids who have little-to-no experience playing a musical instrument. Through 45-minute, individual weekly lessons they learn the basic of their guitar, bass, drums, keys or vocals.
- Rock 101 is the next step. The kids continue to participate in a weekly, 45 minute individual lesson and they add a 1 1/2 hour weekly group rehearsal to their lesson plan. This teaches them teamwork, cooperation, give and take, and creating music with others.
- Performance is the level that most students are striving for. Individual lessons continue and the group rehearsal time is increased to three hours a week. At the end of the four-month season, Performance students play a live rock concert in a real rock venue.
- Original Music Once the students have mastered their instrument and the ability to perform, they often want to begin to create their own music. Those who wish to do so enroll in the Original Music program where they spend 45 minutes a week meeting one-on-one with a music writing mentor and three hours a week creating music with other in the program.
